Yes, we have free parking, for up to 5 cars for our guests on request. This is on a first come, first served basis for the 7 rooms we have. One car per booking.  There is also free parking on the road outside The Shirley if our carpark is full.

All of our rooms have windows that can open fully. Each room has an osculating fan. Alternative lighter cotton sheets can be exchanged for the summer duvet if requested. 

Yes, our large and spacious family rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2/3 children, beds provided. All rooms have the space for guests to bring a travel cot. Additional bedrooms can be booked next to each other subject to availability. Just let us know what you need upon booking, and we will do our best to accommodate based on availability. 

The charge for children is included in the family room rate

We ask guests to pre-order their breakfast by 8pm the evening before, using the slips in the main reception. This ensures you have the exact breakfast you would like, cooked fresh each day.  Breakfast service is between 8.30am and 9.30am daily.  We pride ourselves on providing our guests with a high-quality breakfast from locally sourced produce, such as our meat and eggs. We also cater to any dietary needs, such as gluten free, vegetarian or vegan. There are always clean plates all round!

An earlier breakfast is available upon request and subject to availability – please do ask. We know that sometimes, especially on check out days, our guests like to get on the road early to try and beat the traffic.

The Honesty Bar and Guest Lounge is open all day until 11pm. The large and comfortable guest lounge has a range of seating spaces, board games, a large TV with Sky TV and Apps, such as Netflix, Disney, Amazon, etc.

In the colder months we light the log burner for a cosy feel.

All of our bedrooms have their own private ensuite with a shower. We do not have baths at The Shirley.

a mini fridge with milk and bottled water, topped up daily.  
tea and coffee making facilities (hot chocolate and marshmallows in the family rooms) topped up daily
Smart TV and hairdryers
Bath Sheets and Hand Towels (replacements during your stay of less than 3 days are chargeable)

An iron and ironing board can be found on the first floor for communal use 

Check-in is between 3.00pm and 7pm.

Check-out is at 10.30am 

We most certainly can! We can store luggage if you arrive early for your room, and we can store it if you want to go and explore Torquay on departure day too. 

Dogs are not permitted in the B & B. (we have two small dogs of our own, who live with us on site, but they do not come into the guest rooms or communal areas)

The Shirley is situated close to the marina and centre of town. It’s just under a 10-minute walk to the water and a plethora of places to eat and explore.  

We’re just a short taxi ride, or 20-minute walk. 

We have a large sun terrace at the front of The Shirley, that enjoys the sun all day long. There is a selection of areas to sit in, or sun beds to lounge on.  

Unfortunately, we do not offer electric charging points at the present time. 

Torquay is a town filled with so many things to see and do and we’re so lucky to be based somewhere that has something for everyone! We have a wide selection of visitor guides and are always happy to use our local knowledge to help you plan the best places to visit and go to eat.  Many guests also say it is a great place to base themselves so they can explore wider.
